GET READY,WE’RE COMING! Boko Haram Writes Nigerian Army; Plan To Attack Damaturu

via National Mirror:

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have given a notice of attack to the 233 Battalion of the Nigerian Army based at Kukareta Barracks in Damaturu, Yobe State, National Mirror
reports.

The sect was said to have expressed its resolve to attack Damaturu on August 9. Also known as the Special Operations Battalion of the 3 Division, Nigerian Army, the formation is headed by a commanding officer who was said to have received a letter by Boko Haram stating its intentions. National Mirror gathered that the letter was received between Tuesday and Friday last week.

In June, soldiers of the battalion were said to have uncovered a terrorist cell within the state capital, Damaturu. The cell was yet to be raided for certain reasons. One, the commanders were careful of picking a date for the raid for fears that a “mole” within the Army could leak the information to insurgents. Secondly, the infantry soldiers were said to have advised that men of the Air Force be sent to “shell” the cell before ground troops would be sent in.

Already, security operatives are said to be on the high-alert while as at weekend, the General Officer Commanding GOC of the 3 Division, Maj.-Gen. J.S. Zaruwa, was said to be in Yobe. The battalion is still under the 3 Division in Jos despite the creation last year of the 7 Division in Maiduguri, which is closer to Damaturu.

“We just received a letter from BH that they are coming for a visit at Damaturu on the 9th of this month”, said a soldier who did not want his name mentioned. The soldier, who was livid with rage, said 25 of his colleagues were killed in Buni Yadi area of the state last week. He also lamented that some of his mates were currently deserting the Army since it became obvious that the Federal Government and the military high command had not demonstrated enough resolve to tackle the menace.

He said since the beginning of this year, “those idiots (terrorists) have attacked our camp more than six times in both Goniri and Buni Yadi and they always kill soldiers and policemen, yet the government and Army see no reason to solve the problem”. He said except for the Army’s respect for the rules of engagement, his colleagues would have since wiped off both villages.

“The worst of it is that those guys went and bombed the big bridge that leads to the village, Buni Yadi, so that we in the town will not be able to go in, while our soldiers there will not be able to come to the town except they pass through Adamawa State, which is a long distance”. The source, however, said the Army was ready to stave off any attack.

Since 2012, terrorists have launched brazen attacks on Yobe State. While some of the attacks targeted security formations, others targeted unarmed civilians, including teenage secondary school students. Buni Yadi, Goniri, Potiskum have witnessed increased terror attacks.

Na Wa o: Guy Bleaches His Skin With Acid To Look Like Michael Jackson

A Brazilian Michael Jackson superfan used acid to lighten his skin and spent about £2,000 on a series of cosmetic procedures to look like his hero.

Antonio Gleidson Rodrigues, 32, the self-proclaimed number one Michael Jackson impersonator in Brazil, has had rhinoplasty in order to imitate the King Of Pop and spends around four hours each day rehearsing his dance moves.

Gleidson Jackson, as he likes to be known, had his first operation five years ago when he had his
nasal septum corrected to allow him to reach higher notes when singing.
He said:

'I wasn't able to reach notes like Michael before but after surgery I can now sing some notes in falsetto.'

Following his first bid at surgery, Gliedson, of Fortalenza, continued in his mission to imitate the world famous pop star by having hyaluronic acid injected into his face, which had a whitening effect, and botox injections to enhance the area under his eyes. The former drama teacher also had surgery to close the gaps in his teeth and his eyebrows tattooed.

Gliedson is now hoping to raise enough money by imitating Jackson to have even more surgery. He was encouraged to become a Michael Jackson impersonator when he was just 19 after his drama students suggested he looked like the pop star.

Bitter Kola Is Not A Cure For Ebola Virus - Health Minister Warns Nigerians

The Minister for Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, has said there is no scientific evidence of Garcinia kola, popularly known as bitter kola curing or preventing Ebola virus disease.
The research work that people are laying claims, to according to the minister is inconclusive.
It would be recalled that in 1999, a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Professor of Pharmacognosy, Maurice Iwu, alongside some American researchers conducted a research that showed that extract from bitter cola tend to neutralize the effects of virus. But the outcome of that research work has not been scientifically confirmed to be true or not.
He said, “Information that is being circulated especially through the social media and the rest of the internet tend to suggest that because right now, there is no known vaccine for Ebola Virus Disease and there is no known specific drug as effective against EVD. If we don’t streamline a lot of these information, the unwary will become so vulnerable. People have said that they know that a fruit is sufficient to cure EVD.
As I speak to you now, there is no proof yet of any such fruit. I repeat, there is no proof yet of any fruit.

One that has been mentioned is that just keep chewing bitter kola and you will be alright. As the Minister of Health of the Federal Republic of Nigeria I say that right now, there is no scientific yet to suggest that if you just eat bitter kola you will get to prevent the disease or where you have it, it will help to cure it.

However, we are aware that in 1999, Prof. Maurice Iwu worked along with an administration in United States of America and conducted research which at the level of the laboratory is what we call in-vitro research which means it is still in the test tube as it were and it is not in any living body which we call in-vivo.

This shows that some extract they had obtained from the bitter kola which is common in West Africa and in Nigeria and which we use for so many purposes in Nigeria including social reasons tend to have some activities against the virus. But that research was not concluded and therefore as at today, there is no evidence to link that as a cure or preventive measure against Ebola Virus Disease.”

BREAKING NEWS!!! Ebola Virus Is Now In Canada

A Canadian who recently visited Nigeria is being held in isolation at Brampton Civic Hospital in Ontario for showing symptoms of the Ebola Virus Disease.

According to a Canadian public health official, the patient was reported to be showing initial symptoms of Ebola which were similar to more common diseases, such as malaria.

Dr. Eileen de Villa of Peel Public Health told The Globe and Mail that “infection prevention and control measures” had been put in place at the hospital because a patient “with a recent travel history to Nigeria” had shown symptoms similar to the Ebola fever and other flu-like symptoms.

Dr. de Villa said she received information from her colleagues at Brampton Civic Hospital and representatives from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

She added that the hospital would be working with public health laboratories to confirm a diagnosis.

“Any subsequent actions will of course depend on what the ultimate diagnosis is,” she said.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has advised Canadians to avoid all non-essential travel to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone due to the outbreak, but issued a statement, saying the risk of Ebola to Canada is very low.

It said travellers to Nigeria should practise special precautions such as avoiding direct contact with blood and other bodily fluids of people with Ebola virus or unknown illnesses, among other steps.

Similarly, according to a statement issued by Canada’s Minister of International Development, Christian Paradis, the country is offering additional support to help fight the growing EVD outbreak in West Africa.

Paradis said, “Canada is gravely concerned by the rapidly expanding Ebola outbreak in West Africa and the impact it is having on the families in the region as well as the health care workers on the ground assisting them.

“Our thoughts remain with all of those affected. Through both funding and personnel, Canada will continue to help get aid to those who need it as quickly as possible.”
