Jonathan Declares Amnesty For Boko Haram Members - Minister

My Name Is Idris Ajibade Dangerous Blogger

Before you read this, a source at the Nigerian Presidency has denied this story. But all the same, local media reports have quoted the Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna, on Thursday as saying that President Goodluck Jonathan has announced amnesty for members of the Boko Haram sect as parts of his administration’s youths-friendly programmes and policies.

Haruna reportedly disclosed this at a special event tagged “A day with young leaders of Nigeria” to mark the nation’s Democracy Day in Abuja. The minister said:

“President Goodluck Jonathan has also declared amnesty for members of the Boko

Haram sect. Series of integration programmes have been lined up for the members of the sect who would surrender their arms and embrace peace. Let me use this opportunity on behalf of the Federal Government, to call on the members of the Boko Haram sect to embrace the government’s gesture and key into the amnesty programme.”

But journalist Fidelis says he spoke to a source at the Nigeria presidency who has refuted reports of the amnesty offer to Boko Haram. Abati, Reno Omokri are yet to say anything.

Cristiano Ronaldo Gives Aways His £750,000 Champions League Bonus To His friends

Winning the Champions League title against city rivals Atlético Madrid was a dream come true for Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. His record of 17 (!) goals during the tournament secured Real’s tenth title.

But Ronaldo didn’t score those goals for free. The striker received about 1,23 million Euros in bonuses for his goals and the title. And what does someone like Ronaldo do with this kind of money?

Instead of spending it all on more cars, more houses, more luxuries for himself, he gives it away. At the height of his success the World Player of the Year gives the money to his friends. How did this happen?

A close friend of Ronaldo remembers that Ronaldo once told his physiotherapist that the title would be worth more to him than all the bonus money. The therapist allegedly responded: “Why don’t you share the money with us then?”

Ronaldo never hesitated: “OK, if we win the Champions League I will buy each and every one of you a car!“

Whether he will be just as generous if Portugal wins the World Cup is unknown. The Portuguese physiotherapist might be in for something big…

SEE GOBE: Police Officers’ Wives Thrown Out Of Barracks Shops

The wives of police officers at Jericho Barracks in Otto, Ijora, Lagos State, western Nigeria, have been thrown out of their shops in the barracks because they could not afford to pay the required sum for the reallocation of the shops to them after reconstruction.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the shops were demolished on Tuesday in order to be reconstructed to an acceptable standard, but the affected wives have decried the way they were displaced from their shops.

Some of the affected shop owners  who spoke with P.M.NEWS claimed that the leadership of  the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) ordered them to vacate their shops for demolition, promising to reallocate the shops to them after reconstruction.

They alleged that they were initially asked to pay N2, 500 each for a form to retain their interest in their shops but were later given a short notice to pay N140,000 within two weeks, otherwise  the shops will be alloted to civilians.

The affected wives alleged that when they could not pay within the stipulated time, the shops were allocated over to civilians who paid N200, 000 each
Efforts to speak with POWA chairperson on the issue proved abortive at the time of filing this report.

UNBELIEVABLE: Boko Haram Kidnaps Nigeria Police Officers

This madness is sure getting out of control. Boko Haram terrorists, at the weekend, raged in Borno State where 16 persons were feared killed in a fresh attack.

In two separate attacks, five policemen were reportedly abducted with their Armoured Personnel Carrier while a Chinese was killed and 10 others kidnapped during an overnight attack in Kuseri Village between Gamboru Ngala council of Borno State and the Cameroun border.
“Five policemen attached to Banki, a border town with Bama and Cameroon Republic, were attacked by Boko Haram. The terrorists opened fire on the APC No: NPF4960c conveying the policemen led by an inspector and five others. The policemen quickly dropped from the APC and ran into the bush before the terrorists went away with the abandoned APC. As I am talking to you now (yesterday), the whereabouts of the policemen are yet to be known and we suspect the terrorists might have kidnapped or killed them.”
A source said the tension in the are is high. The attacks put President Goodluck Jonathan and his counterparts from Nigeria’s neighbouring countries meeting in Paris, France, on Saturday under pressure to come up with concrete steps to address terrorism in the sub region.

The missing/abducted policemen were identified by sources as Inspector Luka Maina, Sergeant Manya Chaka, Corporals Hassan Dauda, Emmanuel Onoche and Umar Ali.

According to Vanguard, the Banki incident took place by 9:50am on Friday when some policemen attached to the Banki Division were attacked by terrorists while trying to drop six of them at the junction road who were to proceed to their promotion course examination and interview.

The Borno Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tanko Lawan, confirmed the abduction of the five policemen and the seizing of the Armourd Personnel Carrier (APC).

“The Boko Haram militants were heavily armed, they came in five vehicles”, an official in Waza, a town near the site of the attack, said on condition of anonymity.

More Boko Haram Terrorists Caught by Borno Men has Revealed The Girls Location

Boko Haram Terrorists Arrested By Citizens In Dikwa Say Abducted Girls Are In Sambisa
Eight Boko Haram terrorists who came out to get food and items from Goym village in Dikwa local government, Borno state were arrested by visiting Civilian Joint Task Force men who came from Gwoza. The terrorists who came in a hilux truck with some motorcycles were arrested at 4pm Friday evening.

Upon interrogation, the terrorists revealed that the 234 girls abducted from Chibok were still in Sambisa forest and that they had been divided into three groups. They describe the camps in Sambisa as very large. They said they were sent by their leader to get items including clothes for the girls.
The civilians hoped military support will be sent to Dikwa immediately as it is likely the terrorists return when they find their men were arrested. They also hope “the Americans” will act on this intelligence to rescue the abducted girls.
Dikwa local government area is one of the local governments that is a boundary of Sambisa forest, and is near Gamboru-Ngala where 300 civilians were killed recently.

Maiduguri also remains on high alert as two Boko Haram members arrested by the Civilian JTF two days ago, one pretending to be a phone card seller at Tashai Kamla market told them Boko Haram was planning to attack and massacre men, women and children in the capital city any day now.

Nigerian president faces increasing pressure over kidnapped schoolgirls

Calls for Goodluck Jonathan to stand down over a perceived failure to react quickly to Boko Haram's mass abduction

Campaigners for the release of more than 200 kidnapped schoolgirls in Nigeria plan to march on the office of president Goodluck Jonathan this week amid growing calls for him to stand down at the next election.
Activists from the #BringBackOurGirls group said they will present a "charter of demands" to the president, including calls for a more effective presence in militant strongholds and greater engagement with the community of Chibok, where the girls were abducted by Islamic militants more than a month ago.
"We have built up knowledge about the situation and we want to share that knowledge with the president," said Dr Jibrin Ibrahim, a campaign member and civil society activist in the capital, Abuja. "Everybody in this country realises that the government has not been doing as much as it should. It took three weeks before security operatives visited the village. It was an absent state. A state that does not carry out its responsibilities is of much concern to us."
The march, planned for Thursday, risks provoking a harsh response from the security forces. Last week police in Abuja moved in to disrupt a rally and disperse protesters who were shouting, "Bring back out girls now and alive!" Members of #BringBackOurGirls also intend to visit Chibok, contrasting with a public relations debacle in which Jonathan cancelled a visit there last week.
There is increasing unrest over what many see as a failure to react quickly to Boko Haram's mass abduction from a school dormitory in the north-eastern town on 14 April. More than a month later, officials admit they still have no idea how many girls are missing. There have been almost daily protests in Nigerian cities demanding that the government do more to rescue the students.
Ken Wiwa, senior special assistant to the president, admitted on Sunday: "Rather than being about Boko Haram and their atrocities, this is turning into a referendum on Jonathan's administration."
Jonathan sought to appear statesmanlike at an international summit in Paris on Saturday as he discussed cooperation with other west African leaders and French president Francois Hollande. "Boko Haram is acting clearly as an Al-Qaida operation," he declared.
But with elections only nine months away, the hostage situation is turning into a political crisis that threatens to deepen the north-south divide in Africa's biggest economy. As a southern Christian, Jonathan is walking a diplomatic tightrope in Nigeria's predominantly Muslim north, while his vice-president, Namadi Sambo, a Muslim northerner, has been curiously reticent on the crisis.
Many in the north are critical of Jonathan's response. Martins Felix, a school principal in the northern city of Kano, said: "People expected that the president would react immediately but he didn't. The next day he came to Kano instead and was dancing and enjoying himself. It's bad for Nigeria; it's sad to see Nigeria in the news like this."
Abbasaid Sufi, director-general of Kano state Hisbah board, which enforces sharia law, added: "The government is not doing enough. Immediately after the abduction, the government should have acted, not at this hour. The president did not take the matter seriously."
Mustapha Mohammed, a civil servant in Maiduguri in Borno state, where the girls were taken, told Reuters: "I am 100% sure that Goodluck Jonathan will not get a single vote from northern Nigeria. He has neglected the north and especially the northeast."
Further south in Abuja, however, there is sympathy for the scale of the challenge posed by Boko Haram and the difficulty of searching for the girls in a forest spanning 60,000 square kilometres.
Mele Kyari, a manager at the International Centre for Islamic Culture and Education, compared Boko Haram's ability to melt into the bush, for example on motorbikes, with the Taliban in Afghanistan. "It was treated like regular warfare but it isn't regular warfare," he said. "This is a street fight and you don't fight a street fight with a regular army, the same mistake that the Americans made. Did it work in Afghanistan? Did it work in Pakistan? Did it work in Iraq? No.
"There is little you can do when you have a street fight. No amount of strategy can work except involving the local community. They know the people who are extremists."
On the same day as the kidnappings, Boko Haram mounted the worst ever bomb attack in Abuja when a car bomb killed at least 75 people in a working-class neighbourhood. It carried out another bombing at almost the same spot two weeks later. Titus Emeka Okwor, 50, a streetside fuel seller, recalled that Jonathan came straight to the scene: "He was crying bitterly. Our president was crying."
But Boko Haram is just one factor affecting next year's election in this storied nation of 170 million people with myriad religious, ethnic and economic tensions. Perhaps the biggest threat to Jonathan is the All Progressives congress formed last year by four opposition parties. It has been boosted by governors and MPs who quit his ruling People's Democratic party.
Wiwa said: "Jonathan's style is baffling to many people but he's emerged through some very trying and difficult processes. He is difficult to read. But he has spent 14 years in government and knows a trick or two. When the pressure is on, he steps back and then acts when you least expect it. 'Sure and steady' is his motto."
Asked if Jonathan intends to run for president again next February, Wiwa replied: "I've no idea. Even those close to him don't know. Last time he left it late and people were speculating."

Man, 28, allegedly murders girlfriend in Rivers state

A 28 year old man identified as Ahamehule Chukwu, a resident of Eliozu community, in Obio/ Akpor LGA of Rivers State has been arrested by officers of the Rivers State Police Command, for allegedly
murdering his 21-yearold girl friend identified as Ifeayinwa Ani.

The lifeless body of Ifeayinwa, who is reported to have been head over heels in love with her lover-turned-killer to the extent that she moved him with him even though they were not yet married, was discovered in front of the Eliozu Health Centre by the Chief Medical Officer of the centre, Dr. Ama Flag-Amachree, recently. *graphic pic after the cut* Continue...

Dr. Flag-Amachree who reported the matter to the Okporo Divisional Police Station, disclosed that she notice three incisions on Ifeanyiwa’s buttocks which she had reason to believe where caused by injection syringe. The Chief Medical Officer told the police that Ifeayinwa’s lifeless body was dumped in front of the health centre by unknown persons.

But according to police investigation, Ahamehule who attended Government Technical College, Port Harcourt and his heartthrob had a cosy relationship until he alleged that the late Ifeayinwa started receiving some suspicious phone calls, supposedly from members of the opposite sex.

Ahamehule tearfully confided in the police during questioning that he was enraged by the frequent calls from unknown persons, and in anger, he asked Ifeayinwa out of his family house where they had been cohabiting since 2012. Ifeayinwa’s father, Godwin Ani, told the police at Okporo Police Station that Ifeayinwa, his fourth daughter, was cohabiting with Ahamehule before her death.

Ani told the police that he never approved of his daughter’s decision to move in with her man, saying he had gone to Ahamehule’s family and asked his daughter to return home, but his plea fell on deaf ears, even as Ifeayinwa had claimed that Ahamehule owed her the sum of N51,000, and vowed not to return to her father until Ahamehule paid his alleged debt.

Upon Dr. Flag-Amachree’s shock find and the statement made to the police by Ifeayinwa’s father, the police at Okporo Divisional Police went to Ahamehule’s family home to arrest the suspect, but discovered that he had absconded from his family home. Ahamehule later came to the police station with his lawyer. Ahamehule in his statement to the police stated that he saw Ifeayinwa last in November last year.

He disclosed that he gave her N20, 000 which she needed for an abortion. Speaking on the matter, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, stressed: “It is important that parents should stress the importance of living a responsible life to their children…

Abortion is a dangerous option, and so people who have no desire to raise children should abstain… many things are happening. We need to properly instruct our children and wards,” he said.

Ogunsakin, however, said that the matter has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Command for further investigation, adding that Ahamehule will be charged to court if found guilty.

Jegede said he wooed her and she paid him a visit in January 2014 in full military uniform.

Police Nab Personnel For Extorting Money From Motorists

IMO State Police Command has arrested its personnel for extorting money from motorists on the highway.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, came on the heels of raging complaints from motorists over the level of extortion being experienced in the state since the command reintroduced stop and search operation.
The command has received a number of complaints from motorists that the stop and search operation had turned to extortion centres. I must also confirm that the special team set up by the Commissioner of Police to monitor what our men do on the road, arrested some policemen for varying offences,” Enwerem said.
While noting that those picked up by the CP’s special team were currently explaining their acts to the Command, the PPRO also appealed to motorists to report all acts of extortion to his office for commensurate action.
The rules governing stop and search operations are very clear and any policeman who goes out to do what he likes on the road is definitely on his own,” Enwerem warned.
Some motorists who spoke to us in Owerri, expressed serious concern that most of the policemen on the roads were no longer interested in truly finding out the identities of the passengers or the goods being ferried by vehicles.
Their anger boiled over as soldiers who station themselves close to Capitol Hotel, along Owerri-Okigwe highway, have joined the team of extortionists on Imo roads.
Investigations also revealed that at the World Bank Housing Estate, Owerri, the policemen extort money from motorists who avoid the bad spots close to Ideal Hotel roundabout.
