Argentina icon Diego Maradona feels Lionel Messi did not deserve to win the Golden Ball following his performances at the World Cup, Goal reports. The Barcelona star beat the likes of Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben and James Rodriguez to the prestigious individual award after scoring four goals in seven appearances at this summer’s tournament and guiding his team to the final, yet Maradona feels the 27-year-old only won it for commercial reasons.
“Messi? I would give him heaven if possible,” Maradona said during his show on Telesur. “But it’s not right when someone wins something that he shouldn’t have won just because of some marketing plan.”

Maradona then went on to voice his disappointment with Argentina’s 1-0 defeat in Sunday’s final against Germany following Mario Gotze’s goal in extra-time.
“I feel sorry for my country. Mario Gotze’s goal really hurt. There’s a huge sadness in my heart that we lost the final.“All things put together, I think Argentina deserved at least penalties. That Germany won was the result of a misunderstanding in the Argentine defence.”
The 1986 World Cup winner also had his say on Alejandro Sabella’s decision to replace Ezequiel Lavezzi with Sergio Aguero at half-time and argued that the Argentina boss got things wrong.
“I don’t understand the substitution of Lavezzi. He was phenomenal down the wing. Kun Aguero didn’t have the same impact. It was not his tournament.”
I thought Messi didn’t deserve the golden ball too! With the likes of Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller and James Rodriguez playing their hearts out and impressing throughout the world cup, this was clear injustice and an ulterior motive!

Mandela’s Daughter: His Suffering Was Painful To Watch

In an exclusive interview with CNN,  Nelson Mandela’s daughter Maki has talked about her father’s suffering in the final months of his life.

Speaking to CNN’s Robyn Curnow – the only international journalist to broadcast live from Nelson Mandela’s funeral – Maki asserted that while his medical team treated him with dignity and respect, his death came as a relief after the agonizing struggle his health had faced.

"There were times I was telling the doctors I think enough is enough,” she said. “As doctors they had their duty to try everything up to the last moment, but for me as a daughter it was excruciating watching that." Maki also talked about plans for the family to open Mandela’s grave to visitors in a year or so, with plans in place for a visitors' center and memorial garden, where tourists will be able to walk around the grave and see it from a viewing point.

Neymar - "I Was Two Centimeters Away From Getting Paralyzed

Neymar has revealed the potential severity of his spinal injury, saying that if Juan Zuniga’s challenge was two centimeters below, he would have been confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

The Brazil star was kneed in the back in the final minutes of their quarter-final match against Colombia and was immediately ruled out of the tournament.

He is however expected to make a full recovery, but the forward has said the situation could have been worse.
Two centimeters lower and I could be in a wheelchair today,” the Barcelona player told a press conference.

I bear no grudge.”

Neymar also said that Zuniga had called him to apologise
